Two Separate Questions
Whether a clearance is 'real' (tied to genuine limited inventory) and whether the urgency messaging around it is 'real' (an accurate deadline) are two separate questions, and a sale can be genuine on one dimension while still using exaggerated language on the other.
Checking the Inventory Reason
A genuine clearance usually has an identifiable, checkable cause: a specific model being discontinued, a specific store location closing, or a specific season ending, each of which can often be verified independently.
Checking the Urgency Messaging Separately
Even a genuine clearance can be wrapped in an exaggerated countdown timer or overstated scarcity claim, so verifying the underlying reason for the sale doesn't automatically mean every urgency signal on the page is accurate.
Evaluating Both Together
The most reliable approach checks both dimensions independently: confirm there's a real, specific reason behind the sale, and separately weigh how many manufactured urgency tactics are layered on top of it.
